That 70's show

This show in my opininon is one of the best sitcoms ever created. It's unique because it takes plave in the 70's (of course just look at the title) and so it has the 70's fasion, history, speech, and customs of that era. Pot smoking being an example. The charaters will go into the basememt of the main characters house and smoke pot. They all sit in a circle so the camera moves in a circular path. Every time the camera moves to a different character it symbolized the passing of the weed. The show has so many one liners and funny jokes that will make you laugh so hard. Even if you've seen an episode ten times every time you watch you'll still burst out laughing.

Topher Grace plays the main character Eric Foreman. He is a nerdy kid who is obsessed with things like starwars, comic books and action figures. He hangs around with his friends the "cool crowd" he has a girlfriend named Donna the whole show who lives right next door to him and they've known eachother all of their lives. She is percieved as out of his league because she's a tall amazon red head and he's a small dorky kid. He even admits that he doesn't know why she's with him. There are tons of stereo types in this show. There's a character named Steven who is the pot head of the group and is the reason why they smoke. He is the trouble maker and in the later episodes he lives in Erics basement. All he does is act like those people in the 70's that would protest and rebel against everything because they think it's cool. Then there's Micheal. He Is the pretty boy of the group and he talks about his looks all the time! That's all he cares about is his looks and won't let anyone forget it. And he is insanely dumb. He has no common sense and the characters have so much fun making fun of him and making him do stupid stuff. Then there's Jackie. She the most popular girl in school. Or so she thinks. She is like Micheal in the sense that all she talks about is her looks and popularity. She ends up dating all of the guys in this group instead of Eric of course because he's Donna's. She is Donna's best friend even though half the time she puts Donna down with insults because Jackie is so rich. And the last person in the group of friends is Fez. He is one if not the best character on the show! He is from another country and on the show they never really say where he is from. He has an accent and is so hilarious. All he wants is girls and he can barely get one. One of the girls he got was a pyshco who needed to calm herself down. The mixture of all these characters makes funny television because they are all so different and are always trying to prank each other no matter what. They all enjoy making each other feel stupid and we as veiwers get a good laugh out of it.

Cash cab

Cash cab is a game show on dicovery channel that takes place in a cab in New York City. This is a pretty good idea because with how many cabs there are in New York City the chances of you getting this cab is slim to none. The host and driver of the cash cab is Ben Bailey and I have to say they couldn't have picked a better host for this show. On the inside of the cabs ceiling there are lights and Ben must turn on the lights after the contestants get inside the cab. But sometimes he'll sit there and the contestants will be confused on why the cab isn't moving which creates an awkward momen for them and then he flips on the lights and comes to life and explains what they have just walked into. He is so lively and as the show has become more and more popular he has created different voices and bends down over the wheel. He sometimes pretends to have an Italian accecnt or talk like an old man and it's pretty funny. What I don't understand is how he knows where all these destinations are? Because when I went to New York City my cab driver didn't know where the place was I wanted to go and we had to tell him. Maybe he has a GPS in the cab or something? Another thing I want to know is how much money they keep in that cab? Because he always has the exact amount for the contestant everytime no matter how much they won. The first four questions are worth twenty five dollars the next four are fiffty dollars an after that the questions are worth a hundred dollars. You have two life lines in this game. You can either use a mobile shout out or a street shout out. For the mobile shout out Ben gives you a cell phone and you're allowed one call. For the street shout out Ben stops the car and pulls over to the side of the road and the contestants must ask a stranger walking by the question. This is an awkward moment because not everyone knows about this show and when you're walking down the street and some people hanging out of a cab window are calling over to you you usually just walk away. Since this show is completely random the contestants that come on this show are of all sorts. Some really dumb and some super smart. But if you get three strikes or three questions wrong Ben will kick you out no matter where you are and no matter what the weather was like. When you get to a red like that triggers a red light challenge where Ben will ask you a question that has multiple answers to it. You don't get penalized for wrong answers but you only have a certain amount of time to get all the answers to get the money. At the end of the ride. If you make it that far. You can either take the money or go double or nothing on a video bonus question. These questions are sometimes easy and then other times are just really hard. This game show is like a dumb version of jepordy.

ABDC

America's Best Dance Crew is a show on MTV that goes around America to find the best dance crews and put them on the show to compete against eachother. The creator is Randy Jackson the judge on American idol and it's obvious because the show is just like American idol except that it's dancing not singing. The do challenges every week and America votes to keep the crew they want. There are a panel of three judges jut like how American idol used to be and they can be characterized as the others just as well. Shane Sparks used to be a judge on America's Best Dance Crew and he was baisically "Randy" but he has been replaced by Omarion who is now the "Randy" judge. The nest judge is Lil Mama. Whch I don't understand because she's had what one hit song and now she's a dance master or something? That makes no sense to me. She can barely talk right because of this she's obvious the cast as "Paula". She always is complementing a costume or something and when she actually does critique the Dancing it's either somthing that another judge said or makes no sense. There are very few times that she has a good critque. The last jugde is Jc from N*sync. He of course is "Simon". He is always critisizing every little thing that the dance crew does wrong. It's like he's looking for them to mess up. Even though that's annoying it helps them get better as dancers. Now another similarity between the two shows are the hosts. Ryan Seacrest is the host of American idol and he is baisically a pretty boy. For America's Best Dance Crew they picked Mario Lopez another pretty boy to be the host. he's a Latino version of Ryan. Now to the dancing part of the show. The crews have to do challenges each week. I personally hate that they have to do these challenges. I would rather the show just pick an artist and then the crews have to chose a son that artist has song and then just battle on the stage. That way the crews
cans show of their own style and not something else. Then the show would have more diversity and wouldn't be based so heavily on hip hop
like it is now. I have only liked two dance crews out of all the seasons and they are the jabbawockeez and Afroboriké. Afroboriké was a
Cuban-Puerto Rican dance crew and I was impressed on how they mixed their Latino dance moves with hip hop. They should have won
season four. They only were in the bottom two once. They lost to We Are Heros an all girl crew who in my opinion wasn't all that good. But I
have to say hands down my favorite crew and the best crew out of all the seasons has to be the masked crew of guys the Jabbawockeez!
This crew dominated the first season of America's Best Dance Crew and won first place. They were unique from the very begining because
they wore these white masquerade like masks when they danced which set them apart from the rest. But what really blew them out of the
water is their dance moves! They were NEVER in the bottom two and they had no reason to be. Week after week they came out and they
didn't disappoint! If I were the other crews I wouldn't have bothered showing showing up let alone dance. After them other crews in my
opinon didn't reach the level they were at and every season since the first on has seemed dry to me. I feel that they will always be the best
dance crew.

The Vampire Diaries

The year 2009 brought the huge obsession with vampires. The movie Twilight caused people to go crazy and have everyone want more of the fictional nightmare figure. Movies, books, and television shows began appearing more and more. While some people screamed enough is enough others were head over heels over anything vampire. These shows and movies and books seemed to create their own genre. It seems like you just can't escape the vampires. Warning that there are spoilers in this blog.

The Vampire Diaries is a show on the CW that stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder. The only real connection to twilight that this show has is that the main character, Elena Gilbert, is attending high school. Other than that the show is an original. It's based on the book series The Vampire diaries written by L.J Smith. I have not personally read the books but from looking at peoples comments on different websites it is clear that this series is nothing like the book. Apparently I've heard that Elena was a blond in the book and people are fussing about that. Get over it. Hollywood does that ALL THE TIME! Nothing is ever the same as the book. Maybe a little bit the same but not exactly the same. So move on.

As the series progresses the action in the show gets more and more intense. It seems like the two vampire brothers Damon and Stefan are killing someone or hurting someone every episode. The gore appears in this show a lot which makes it a good vampire show.

The love that Damon and Elena share is full of passion and isn't cheesy. You feel the intensity without them showing them being that overly PDA couple. Elena was involved with a guy named Matt before Stefan showed up.

They were together for years and then she broke it off. She was still a bit of a wreck after her parents death in a car crash which she was a part of because she was in the backseat. Her and her brother Jeremy were now orphans and were taken in by their aunt.

Then Stefan came along and shook up her world. Such a typical cliche when it comes to "love." Matt became jealous because he wasn't over Elena at all.

Damon is the hot bad boy. He is Stefan's brother. These two have a huge sibling rivalry because or an old flame from hundreds of years ago. Kathrine was a vampire girl that seduced the boys when they were young teenagers before they were turned.

She played both boys hearts like they were instruments and was basically "seeing" both boys at the same time. The boys claimed that they were madly in love with her. Nothing was ever the same between them after that. Not even in the after life.

When Stefan came back to his old town he came across a girl that looked EXACTLY like Kathrine. Elena. He couldn't stay away and the soon became madly in love. Then we found out the secret of why they look so similar. Elena was adopted and was an ancestor of Kathrine. She had no idea and resented her aunt and parents for not telling her.

Like Edward from twilight Stefan is a "vegetarian" and doesn't drink humans blood. Unlike is rebellious "never follow the rules" brother Damon. These vampires have the ability to control you with just one look in your eyes.

Although Stefan can't really use it because he isn't strong enough because he drinks animal blood. While Damon uses it on anyone he sees fit to get anything he wants. The only thing that can stop these or any vampires is vervain. Kind of like Superman's kryptonite.

Pregnacy on television.

Television has evolved over many years and has changed with the times. Controversial topics are becoming more and more frequent on television shows. Drugs, sex, alcohol etc. One topic that has become popular is teenage pregnancy. These shows bring controversy because people think that they are trying to glamorize teenage pregnancy.
In some cases this may be true but some show are honestly trying to show how difficult these young women’s lives are. The Secret life of the American teenager and Teen Mom are two cases of teen pregnancy and are at two separate ends of the spectrum. One show is a documentary type show that follows these girls lives as they try to make ends meet with their new children. The other is an unrealistic corny show that makes it seem easy to have a child. Having a show about this topic is alright only if it’s done in a right way. It's already a touchy subject and if done the wrong way it could be perceived in the wrong way. Which results in the show being pulled if their is too many people against it.

The Secret Life of The American Teenager is a show on ABC family that is centered around the fact that the main character Amy Juergens (played by Shailene Woodley) got pregnant and had a baby while still in high school. This show is "supposed" to show how hard being a teenage mother is and the effects of having sex at a young age but this show is so unrealistic. Sure it has the typical types of high school students like the slut, the geeks, the bad boy, the jock, and the good girl who tries to make everyone else believe in what she believes. But some of the stuff that they talk about is just so far fetched from reality. Amy's dad cheated on her mom then her dad got her mom pregnant again even though he said he got a vasectomy. So then Amy and her mom were pregnant at the same. Like that happens all the time.

Ricky ( played by Daren Kagasoff) is the father of the baby and he is the typical bad boy who only uses girls for sex. He is apart of John's (the child) life more than you would expect. His father abused him when he was a child and he goes to therapy and is involved with the "slut" of the school Adrian.

Ben (played by Ken Baumann) was Amy's boyfriend. They just recently broke up because Ben went to another country and met someone else there. But when they were dating he was so involved with the baby it was like he was the father. Now really what high school guy at fifteen will be willing to take on the responsibility of being a father and married? What makes me so mad is that Amy and Ben got "married" with fake ids. Who does that? Seriously.

Adrian (played by Francia Raisa) always has to wear something low cut and short to show off as much skin as she can. She's slept with most of the guys at the school and is in love with Ricky and wants to marry him. Amy's dad cheated on his wife with Adrian's mom. Adrian is so threatened by Amy that she made her father buy the house right next door to her so she can spy on them. Creeper.

Grace (played by Megan Park) is the christian girl who tried to push her beliefs on others. Her mom is Amy's dad's ex wife. Small world. She was all high and mighty and was totally against having sex before marriage and what do you know. she ended up doing it but right after her father died in a plane crash and blamed it on her having "great sex". Some of the things that comes out of this girl's mouth is so annoying. She always thinks she can makes something better.

This show is so unrealistic. It shows barely anything about the life of a teenager. All they ever talk about is sex. How is it that Amy has time for work, school, being in the marching band, and going out on dates? All that is showing is that it's easy for teenage moms because their parents do all the work. not the right message to be sending.

Teen Mom is a show on mtv that follows Amber, Maci, Farrah, and Catelynn as they try to cope with being a teen mom. This show captures the tears, fights, and struggles these girls go through on a daily basis. From trying to find an apartment to trying to do school work these girls lives are no picnic and this show defiantly does not glamorize teen pregnancy.
Maci is my favorite of all of the girls. She had a little baby boy named Bentley. The father of the boy is a guy named Ryan who does not pay attention to his son like he should. Their relationship is a very troubled one. They are constantly at each others throats and they have both said if it wasn't for Bentley they wouldn't be together. Maci lives in her own apartment and is trying to go to school online but with her son nearing his first birthday he is mobile and she has to watch him by herself so she finds very very little time to do school work. I commend her on taking care of her son basically on her own with a dead beat as her sons father.
Farrah is the most immature of the girls. She barely stays at home with her daughter Sophia. She goes out to clubs and hangs with her friends till all hours and goes on date after date after date. She is so mad that she can't find a guy that will take her and her baby. She leaves her child home to run off and do these things. But I have to say that she is getting better as a parent. Farrah is taking her daughter to places now like the zoo and music classes and you can tell Sophia is becoming more happy.
Amber is like Maci. Her ex fiance Gary treats her horribly so she took their baby Leah and left. She had to drop all of her classes and is having trouble finding a job. She had the hard decision that most moms make of whether or not they want to put their child in daycare. She struggles with depression but is fighting to have a great life for her daughter while her father is fighting a sickness.
Catelynn is the only one out of the group that gave her child up for adoption. Her and her boyfriend Tyler are having a hard time dealing with the fact that they can't see or hold her. The couple that adopted their baby girl has basically cut off all ties and they don't know their last name or where they live. I understand why they gave her up because the environment that they live is horrible. Tyler's dad is in and out of jail. I think them giving her up is the most unselfish thing they could have done.

American idol

This hit tv show on fox network is singing contest and the winner gets a contract and become rich and famous. But the reality is that most of the time the winner doesn't even become famous at all.

The two most famous winners of this show are Carrie Underwood and Kellyclarkson. Only two winners became the most famous in the singing business after they WON? Does no one else find that weird? I thought after you won you were supposed to become the biggest thing in the music business. It seems like people would get bigger in the music buisness if they DIDN'T join this show.

Simon defiantly makes the show most of the time. He's rude yes but ninety nine percent of the time he's telling the truth and saying what everyone else in America is thinking. He's the one that isn't afraid to speak his mind. But he gets all of the heat for being too cruel or insensitive. He won't be coming back next season and i predict that this show will be going down the toilet with him.

The show in my opinion is losing it's appeal. It was exciting in the first couple seasons but now it's just tired and old. Every season is the exact same. The auditions always bring out the crazy people. Then there is always that one person that gets voted off when everyone was rooting and voting for him. Sometimes it's a wonder if America is even controlling the fate of these people. Half of the time there is always that one person who SHOULD NOT be on the show in the first place but week after week that person is still on. For example, Sanjaya. You always heard people talking about how they had no idea how he was still on that show.

I don't think the votes count at all. What i think is that the producers pick and choose who stays by the reaction of the audience and people talking on the Internet and on tv. All shows these days are fighting to get good ratings and controversy is always a good way to get great ratings. Like how Paula left from the show. Or how Simon is always so blunt. Or how there are rumors that the votes aren't being counted. Or how people go home when everyone loves them.

Chris Daughtry for example was on of the favorites in his season. Then oddly he was kicked off? But now he's more popular than most of the contestants that win the whole thing. He got a spot on Dick Clarks new years eve show. How many American idol winners can say that? Not many.

Clay Akin was a runner up on American idol and look what happened. He got HUGEE! He was every where and everyone was talking about him. His songs became so popular it was insane. The actual winner of that season was in Clay's shadow. It's a wonder how these runner ups and other individuals that didn't win become more famous than the actual winner?

The auditions. Does anyone really believe that those people are for real? I think they might be paid actors to boost ratings. Because lets face it what comes to mind when you first think about American idol auditions? You think about people making complete fools out of themselves. Although most wont admit it we all love a good train wreak to make us feel good about ourselves.
A perk the show gets from these train wreaks is the exposure. After the episode is aired everyone who watched will pass on what they saw the night before. Hello youtube! The next day the youtube video is played and veiwed over a million times. Americans are suckers for a good laugh at some Else's expense.

A key example of this is the extremely famous William Hung. "She bang she bang!" You could not go anywhere without hearing someone sing that after that episode was aired. Everywhere you went parents, teachers, friends, kids, neighbors you name it were singing "she bang she bang!" And am i the only one that remembers the little dance he did? That was so amazing and i HAVE to give that guy so many props for going out and giving it his best. He said he did his best and i thought that was the cutest thing ever. See Americans are suckers for this type of stuff and the producers make sure they can utilize that. The William Hung version become way way way more popular than the Ricky Martin version.

The new break out star of the auditions this season is "General" Larry Platt. Does "Pants on the ground" ring a bell? When he first came out and told the judges what song he was going to sing i know exactly what thought was going through every dirty persons mind in America. But then he explained what the song was before he sang and i sighed a sigh of relief. He's the new William Hung. You know that something has become famous when my chemistry teacher quotes this song to one of her students because his pants were low. I can't go anywhere without hearing this song. Hair salons, the movies, schools, anywhere you can think of people are quoting it. I feel so bad for anyone who has their pants too low and goes out into public. You will get harassed until either you go home or pull your pants up. This song has made a very good important point though. You all look like a fool with your pants on the ground! I'm sick and tired of seeing things i really don't want to see. I'm really not interested in what your boxers look like so please pull up your pants. Hopefully this song will allow me to actually be able to look up when I'm walking around and not see guys butts. I think the dance he gave was what put it over the top. Here is this sixty five year old man doing splits and dancing around pretending to yank his pants up. It was extremely priceless! I didn't watch the episode but i heard about it and like over a million other Americans i looked it up on youtube and i defiantly was NOT disappointed.

I give American idol maybe one or two more season before it completely goes under for good. You can only have so much of one thing for so long before it becomes boring. Most people only watch the auditions and not the whole season. And you can see why. Sorry to all the die hard American idol fans but it's just how i feel.

The Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore is a show on MTV that contains strangers living in a house for a certain amount of time on the Jersey Shore. This show is basically a ripoff from the Real World if you think about it. Both shows have strangers living in a house for a certain amount of time. Both shows have the individuals work when they live there. Also the people on both shows go out and party, drink, and fight. The main difference of the two shows is that the Real World contains individuals are completely different from one another. While the people who are on the Jersey Shore are exactly the same as their roommates and are living how they live their normal lives.

The individuals on this show are Ronnie, Vinny, Sammi, Nicole "snookie", Mike "the situation", Jenni "JWOWW", and Pauly D. This group of people seems to have drama where ever they go. Including in the house.

Sammi "the sweetheart" is the root of all the drama. She's not really the sweetheart at all. In one of the earlier episodes she caused a riff in the house by leading Mike on and then leaving him for another roommate, Ronnie. Sammi and Ronnie are an item now and all they do is fight with each other. Their fights are over the dumbest things too. In one of their "fights" it began with them them just messing around and insulting each other in the van on the way home. Ronnie keeping up with this little game said that Sammi had a "Fred Flinstone toe" and she flipped out. She was being so dumb. It was a joke move on and let it go. She was making fun of him too so she shouldn't be so sensitive. If you can't take it then don't dish it out. She seriously needs to grow up or leave because she is extremely annoying.

Mike "the situation" is also the root of the drama. First off what is with the nickname? Who goes around calling themselves the situation? Only a "guido" like Mike apparently. Every night Mike brings a girl home from the club. Also in every camera shot when the group is in a club or something you can see Mike either making out with a girl, dancing with a girl, or talking to a girl. He doesn't know when to stop and look out for his roommates. For example, he watched Nicole "snookie" get punched in the face buy a guy. He didn't do a thing about it. All he did was watch. Then after all that had happened and all the rest of the roommates were furious and the cops showed up he was trying to bring a girl home! He has some serious priority issues.

Jenni "JWOWW" is known for drama as well you could say. She's gotten into fist fights with girls at clubs and Mike. She has a boyfriend but in one episode she got "drunk" and hooked up with Pauly. I don't believe for a second that she was actually drunk when she hooked up with him. She probably knew exactly what she was doing and just didn't care about her boyfriend.

Vinny and Pauly D are the quiet it ones of the group you can say. Vinny doesn't do the gym, tanning, and laundromat like the other guys in the house do. The biggest moment he has had so far is when he stole the bosses girl. The house they live in belongs to their boss. He knew that that girl was his bosses girl but didn't care and still hooked up with her. Then he kept saying "I'm getting evicted! I'm getting evicted!" and he never did. Pauly on the other hand is kind of Mikes wingman when ever they go out to a bar or club. ALWAYS Pauly gets the ugly friend while Mike gets the pretty one and Pauly never objects or anything.

Nicole "snookie" is the best one out of the group. She's up for anything and is always ready to party. She unfortunately has a hard time finding nice guys to hang out with though. She always gets made fun of for being fat but she's really not that big. Sadly one night when they were all at a bar there were these guys that were harassing all of the roommates. The guys kept stealing their shots so Snookie confronted them and as a result got punched dead in the face by a man. That's so wrong on so many levels.

Intro

Television is a huge part of many peoples daily lives. Reality television and entertainment shows give people something to talk about the next day. Teenagers are able to recall what happened on last nights episode of Jersey Shore but can't recall most things in the classroom. Coworkers would rather talk about an episode of Two and a half men than actually work. Lets face it television shows are one of the best places to seek entertainment.

When you come home from a hard day of school/work you just want to relax on the couch or in bed. What's better than laying back and watching random people make fools of them selfs on national television or watching a hilarious sitcom? Shows like
Jersey Shore and The Real World give viewers entertainment by having individuals acting stupid and getting into to trouble and countless fights.

With this blog i am going to review and comment on shows that are gossip worthy. I'll probably be saying the things all your friends are saying.
Shows take us away from our everyday lives and make us forget about the troubles we're having. We bury ourselves in them to get away from life and to be able to have something to talk about.

Think about it...one of your highlights of of your day is sitting and watching that show that comes on once a week. Waiting for a show is suspenseful and gives you motivation to make the time pass faster.

Time seems to stand still while watching your favorite show and brings you entertainment. Everyone has a favorite television show that they can't wait to watch. When they know they won't be able to watch it they record it just to make sure they wont miss it.
Shows like The Nanny and Nanny 911 give viewers a laugh while also letting them feel better about their own lives. Seeing other families suffer because their own bad parenting make people feel good that they haven't screwed up as bad as them. While you watch the episodes you laugh and shake your head at how horrible and disrespectful the children are and how the parents let the kids walk all over them.

The bigger the drama the more interested viewers become. If there are physical altercations involved then that episode will be viewed by tons of people on youtube.
