This hit tv show on fox network is singing contest and the winner gets a contract and become rich and famous. But the reality is that most of the time the winner doesn't even become famous at all.
The two most famous winners of this show are Carrie Underwood and Kellyclarkson. Only two winners became the most famous in the singing business after they WON? Does no one else find that weird? I thought after you won you were supposed to become the biggest thing in the music business. It seems like people would get bigger in the music buisness if they DIDN'T join this show.
Simon defiantly makes the show most of the time. He's rude yes but ninety nine percent of the time he's telling the truth and saying what everyone else in America is thinking. He's the one that isn't afraid to speak his mind. But he gets all of the heat for being too cruel or insensitive. He won't be coming back next season and i predict that this show will be going down the toilet with him.
The show in my opinion is losing it's appeal. It was exciting in the first couple seasons but now it's just tired and old. Every season is the exact same. The auditions always bring out the crazy people. Then there is always that one person that gets voted off when everyone was rooting and voting for him. Sometimes it's a wonder if America is even controlling the fate of these people. Half of the time there is always that one person who SHOULD NOT be on the show in the first place but week after week that person is still on. For example, Sanjaya. You always heard people talking about how they had no idea how he was still on that show.
I don't think the votes count at all. What i think is that the producers pick and choose who stays by the reaction of the audience and people talking on the Internet and on tv. All shows these days are fighting to get good ratings and controversy is always a good way to get great ratings. Like how Paula left from the show. Or how Simon is always so blunt. Or how there are rumors that the votes aren't being counted. Or how people go home when everyone loves them.
Chris Daughtry for example was on of the favorites in his season. Then oddly he was kicked off? But now he's more popular than most of the contestants that win the whole thing. He got a spot on Dick Clarks new years eve show. How many American idol winners can say that? Not many.
Clay Akin was a runner up on American idol and look what happened. He got HUGEE! He was every where and everyone was talking about him. His songs became so popular it was insane. The actual winner of that season was in Clay's shadow. It's a wonder how these runner ups and other individuals that didn't win become more famous than the actual winner?
The auditions. Does anyone really believe that those people are for real? I think they might be paid actors to boost ratings. Because lets face it what comes to mind when you first think about American idol auditions? You think about people making complete fools out of themselves. Although most wont admit it we all love a good train wreak to make us feel good about ourselves.
A perk the show gets from these train wreaks is the exposure. After the episode is aired everyone who watched will pass on what they saw the night before. Hello youtube! The next day the youtube video is played and veiwed over a million times. Americans are suckers for a good laugh at some Else's expense.
A key example of this is the extremely famous William Hung. "She bang she bang!" You could not go anywhere without hearing someone sing that after that episode was aired. Everywhere you went parents, teachers, friends, kids, neighbors you name it were singing "she bang she bang!" And am i the only one that remembers the little dance he did? That was so amazing and i HAVE to give that guy so many props for going out and giving it his best. He said he did his best and i thought that was the cutest thing ever. See Americans are suckers for this type of stuff and the producers make sure they can utilize that. The William Hung version become way way way more popular than the Ricky Martin version.
The new break out star of the auditions this season is "General" Larry Platt. Does "Pants on the ground" ring a bell? When he first came out and told the judges what song he was going to sing i know exactly what thought was going through every dirty persons mind in America. But then he explained what the song was before he sang and i sighed a sigh of relief. He's the new William Hung. You know that something has become famous when my chemistry teacher quotes this song to one of her students because his pants were low. I can't go anywhere without hearing this song. Hair salons, the movies, schools, anywhere you can think of people are quoting it. I feel so bad for anyone who has their pants too low and goes out into public. You will get harassed until either you go home or pull your pants up. This song has made a very good important point though. You all look like a fool with your pants on the ground! I'm sick and tired of seeing things i really don't want to see. I'm really not interested in what your boxers look like so please pull up your pants. Hopefully this song will allow me to actually be able to look up when I'm walking around and not see guys butts. I think the dance he gave was what put it over the top. Here is this sixty five year old man doing splits and dancing around pretending to yank his pants up. It was extremely priceless! I didn't watch the episode but i heard about it and like over a million other Americans i looked it up on youtube and i defiantly was NOT disappointed.
I give American idol maybe one or two more season before it completely goes under for good. You can only have so much of one thing for so long before it becomes boring. Most people only watch the auditions and not the whole season. And you can see why. Sorry to all the die hard American idol fans but it's just how i feel.

haha, I love this, I totally agree, its on life support without Simon. It's not actually a talent competition either.
ReplyDeletePants on the ground is the greatest hing to ever happen to that show. And yeah, Simon holds the show together
ReplyDeleteI only watch the auditions. I don't think that there has really been anyone good other then Kelly Clarkson who won.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw Pants on the Ground, I knew it was going to be on the radio and sure enough, it was! Larry Platt is officially my hero! I couldn't help but go out and buy belts after watching this!
ReplyDeleteI also agree that Simon holds the show together. I don't think I'll be able to watch it after he leaves next season! I mean, there is no American Idol without Simon Cowell.
